Le Relais de l’Entrecôte, Paris France

l’Entrecote Restaurant Review

Paris – 04 August 2022

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte Paris

Craving a good meal, not outrageously expensive and at a Paris restaurant favored by locals, our concierge at Hélios Opéra Hotel in Paris recommended Le Relais l’Entrecôte.

It was almost 10 pm when our Uber driver dropped us off at Le Relais l’Entrecôte located in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, an arty neighborhood full of charm. Since it was a Thursday evening and the restaurant stopped serving at 11, we assumed the busiest dinner hour would have passed. We couldn’t have been more wrong.

The French bistro decor looked inviting with a mix of all ages – young and not so young – seemingly having a good time while enjoying their meals.

The attentive service staff was neatly outfitted in black dress, white collar and apron.

We were fortunate to acquire one of the outside tables lining rue Saint-Benoit, a quite side street with very little traffic.

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte Menu

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte is known for its prix fixe single course menu. Created in 1959 by Paul Gineste de Saurs, the course features a walnut salad followed by an extra tender sirloin steak with its famous secret sauce, and delicious home-made french fries.

Our steak was tender, cooked to perfection and cut like butter. Likewise, the special sauce we had heard so much about was excellent and the fries crisp and tasty. A Verre Tarn Reserve Cabernet from Château de Saurs completed the serving.

Finishing our dinner and quite satisfied, we were pleasantly surprised when our server returned with a second platter of sirloin steak …

along with a platter of additional fries (included in the prix fixe)!

A comfortable and fulfilling hour and a half later, our plates cleaned and hoping a third serving was not coming, we left Le Relais de l’Entrecôte to return to our room at the Hélios Opéra Hotel.

Total Cost For Two

2 Salade aux Noix                  0.00

2 Entrecôte A Point.             55.00 €

1 Verre Tarn Reserve.             5.00 €

1 Coca Zero.                           5.20 €

1 Bout. Evian.                         6.00 €

                                                66.20 €

Conclusion

While Paris is renowned for its Michelin restaurants and culinary establishments, we were very pleased with our experience at Le Relais de l’Entrecôte. The atmosphere was bistro fun, the food well prepared and at 33,00 € per person, the value excellent. Reservations are not accepted (with the exception of its Zurich location), so be prepared to patently wait in line for a table. We now understand why this bistro is so popular among locals and is now a favorite of ours as well. Highly recommend!
