ZigZagging Our Way Through Europe Today, we set sail from Pula for the Croatian coastal city of Rovinj situated 40km to the northwest.
ZigZagging Our Way Through Europe While wrapped in ancient Roman antiquity, Pula has a more recent history as well. The largest city on the Istrian peninsula and seventh largest city in Croatia, Pula has been a major seaport, both commercially and militarily, since 1859.
ZigZagging Our Way Through Europe After returning from Dubrovnik to our apartment in Zagreb, we finally took a few days to relax before setting off for our next adventure to Pula, Croatia. Situated on the southern tip of the Croatian peninsula of Istrian, Pula is approximately 266km southwest of Zagreb.

As we left our apartment, we walked down the narrow cobblestoned street that connects to the Luža Square and the Stradun leading to the Old Town Pile Gate entrance.

ZigZagging Our Way Through Europe Our day trip from Croatia to neighboring Montenegro began early. Although it is less than an hour to the border from Dubrovnik, we wanted to start early to make our way along the coast to the town of Kotor.
ZigZagging Our Way Through Europe Back at our apartment in Zagreb and after a short rest, we set off in the afternoon for our 90 minute flight to Dubrovnik, Croatia. While Hvar, Croatia is often called the “Diamond of the Dalmatian Islands”, Dubrovnik is the “Pearl of Croatia”.
